BACK TO THE FUTURE 25TH ANNIVERSARY BLU-RAY LAUNCH
The stars of classic film trilogy Back to the Future gathered together in New York last night for a special anniversary launch of the Blu-ray set of the movies in New York.
Stars Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson, Mary Steenburgen and director and co-creator Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale reunited for the event.
Everybody looked great, especially Mary Steenburgen and Christopher Lloyd, despite Chris being 71 years old. As a major fan of this film franchise, It was lovely to see Michael J Fox and the rest of the guys come out to celebrate the landmark 25th anniversary, but I can’t lie I was very disappointed that Thomas F Wilson, who played Martin McFly’s nemesis Biff Tannen was noticeably absent.
I have read in the past that Thomas had a bit of an issue about always being linked to Biff and BTTF, and thus has tried to distance himself from the franchise over the years. The actor and stand-up comic even dedicated one of his skits to the frustration of fans always asking about the character and movie (see below), and has spoken about the fact that he didn’t like his whole career being defined by that one character in interviews. This means he is never seen as these kind of events, or included on any DVD special footage giving interviews like the other actors, which is a damn shame, as in my eyes he is one of the best, and one of the most memorable film villains of all time.
And because I love you so much, below is some video from the red carpet event, and also a new trailer for the 25th anniversary, starring Michael J Fox. Enjoy!
