I won’t drone on about how much of a Michael J Fox obssessive I was growing up, and still am, but in saying that the recent premiere of the new MTV series Teen Wolf, in the US, was obviously something I took note of.
If you are a regular reader of this site, you will know something I’m NOT a huge fan of is remakes, as (with a few exceptions) I prefer to revel in the good old days.
So, I haven’t rushed to check out this show, which seems to be taking advantage of young TV and film audiences current love of all thingsĀ ‘vampire’.
If you are confused right about now, thinking ‘Hang on, isn’t he a werewolf, not a vampire?’ Then you would be totally right, and forgive me for making you question your sanity, if just for a milli-second.
Yes, Scott ( they kept the name of the character from the original film) is indeed a werewolf and not a vampire, BUT the blood, dark edgy tone, regular shedding of clothing, fangs and sexy leading dude, that are staple traits in the likes of True Blood, Twilight and Being Human, are still all present here.
In a nutshell ‘Teen Wolf 2011′couldn’t be further from the unscary-looking fuzzball that MJF (and Jason Bateman in Part 2 – but the less said on that debacle the better) portrayed in the movie version. Anyhoo, peep the trailers below to see exactly what I mean.
DID YA KNOW?
- The original film was followed by a cartoon spin-off in 1986 (See below). Also below is the trailer for the movie, which as you will see shamefully used the success of Back to the Future to sell it to audiences! Doubt if you could get away with that today. LOL! Hilarious!
