But how cool must it be to be able to say you were a direct influence on the ultimate entertainer, the best to ever do it, himself? Michael ‘Boogaloo Shrimp’ Chambers is one of very few who has that privilege, and it all kicked off whilst he was still a teenager!
So the classic charity single We Are The World (by USA for Africa) is being remade (today February 1, 2010) to mark the the 25th anniversary of the original, huh?
The original version of the song (featured above) was released on March 7, 1985 to raise money to combat the famine in parts of Africa. It featured everyone from Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie, who wrote the track, Dionne Warwick, Diana Ross, Bruce Springsteen, Cindy Lauper, Tina Turner and… actor Dan Akroyd (as part of the group vocals)!
